Innovative Internet of Things (IoT)-based solutions for infrastructure safety, preventing collapses and monitoring the state of buildings are behind SHBox, the device made by Italian company Sysdev for Structural Health Monitoring (SHM).
A tool that, through wireless structural sensors, networks for data collection(gateways) and a Cloud platform for their storage and processing, makes it possible to keep under control in real time, even remotely, oscillations, failures and structural variations of buildings, bridges and viaducts, and to intervene when necessary.
Occurrences that in recent times have been recorded more frequently in our country, highlighting the poor state of preservation of viaducts, bridges and tunnels.
The sensors designed by Sysdev can be installed in large numbers, being characterized by low cost, small size, ease of placement and minimal energy consumption. Once applied on the structures, they are able to record their every movement and vibration and, thanks to long-range transmitters, report any anomalies or critical issues in real time, ensuring timely and constant control. The data provided can be aggregated and processed directly through a Cloud platform, so as to reconstruct a digital image of the actual monitored environment. In addition, the user can choose which parameters to favor for a given analysis (deformation, temperature, tilt, seismic event).
